A luxury train, the Golden Chariot has been introduced by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation and The Maple Group to connect the tourists with the prominent tourist spots of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Goa. It also takes the visitors to some selected places of Pondicherry.
This train has been named after the Vitthala Temple’s Stone Chariot located at Hampi. It consists of 19 coaches, beautifully painted in purple and gold with the logo of an animal (mythological) having an elephant’s head and a lion’s body.
This train has been designed similarly to Palace on Wheels in terms of accommodations, dining and spa treatments. It bagged the title of "Asia's Leading Luxury Train" in the year 2013 at World Travel Awards.
The services of Golden Chariot can be availed from October to March. The departure of this train is scheduled on every Monday.
